We’ve been to Shiki 6-7 times in the past 3 years. The food here was no doubt of high quality. The service was also excellent. The ambient, however, was leaning more to the fish market side rather than fine dining. The seating for sushi is restricted to just the front. That’s where you’re met with clamor, clanking and all the noises one doesn’t usually find in such a place. From the price point I had expected to be wowed by everything. But so far I’ve never had that moment (hence the 3 stars.)Yet, I’d choose Shiki over U_ _ _ I at the G Hotel any time! It’s a no brainer. I can’t help but comparing Vienna’s Japanese food scenes to, say, Frankfurt. The choices of fish/shell fish here is still very limited. I secretly hope that Shiki would, one day, up the ante and bring something more exciting (than Hotate or Hamachi) to the table.

Best japanese kitchen I've ever tasted (outside of Japan ) Friendly staff on top of high quality food
Amazing experience, especially, vegan option was suprisingly great! (We are not vegans, but just took one menu to try). Grapes icecream was something very memorable, good selection of wines and sake. The place was modern, stylish and cosy to have dinner at. Waiters were knowledgable and explain till the small detail and answer all our questions. Worth a visit, highly recommended.
Nice fancy Japanese restaurant with delicious fresh sushi and sashimi. Good Sake Japanese rice wine too. Even the ladies restroom is fancy with Japanese toilets. They have nice outdoor terrace. Friendly and professional service. But prices are quite high since it's fine dining.
My partner and I was craving for Japanese food since we have been in Europe for a month now. The presentation of Shiki fine dining food is a fusion with the use of Japanese ingredients. We tried both the vegan and non vegan just to have some variety. I prefered the non vegan flavour. I personally loved the palate cleanser, soyokaze drink and Reinanke dish the most :D good experience. do allow time cause it took us about 3 hours for 7 course.
Given the fact that’s it’s located in the 1 district of Vienna, therefore it’s kind of expected to be not cheap. The food was ok but nothing out oh the ordinary, which explains the price. I have eaten better sushi for lower costs and much better quality The restaurant atmosphere is all „high society“ and the service personal behaves that way, you are being looked down a bit if you don’t flag your fanciness
As delicious as one starred michellin Authentic japanese chef cooking fusion food.
Awesome and creative Japanese fusion cuisine, super chic location and decor, great service and all waiters speak English (although with a thick accent, which we forgave them easily, given how nice they were :)) Would def come back!
